Course Description
IP Networking - Module 1:
The Roots and principles of TCP/IP

Duration

2 days

Description

In this 2-day course we will cover a global overview of TCP/IP, and how it is used on the Internet and within the UTC Fire & Security products. You will acquire the necessary know how on the possibilities and working principles of TCP/IP protocols and applications. Together with a detailed overview of the world of TCP/IP, you will learn how the different protocols are linked together and see how it works.

After a brief historical background, the course explains how the core of TCP/IP, the IP address, can be approached and understood. Armed with this knowledge we tackle the different components and models of networks in the world. Naturally an important section dedicated to troubleshooting (via ping, ipconfig, etc...) will help you overcome many typical network problems.

The second day we use our newly acquired knowledge to understand how browsing on the Internet works (HTTP protocol). Viewing a webpage involves data flowing from one point to another on the Internet. Understanding these datastreams will enable you to configure and troubleshoot the installation and viewing of IP cameras over the Internet.
